Collection 1 complete! Funny enough, it's been exactly one month since I picked this all back up. I wanted to go through everything that happens through Series 1-7 and do some Directors Commentary for it. Let's start with the first comic "Raw Pasta". Not a lot to say, except while this might be the first comic you see nowadays, the original first comic was called "Massive".
I removed this one (and a lot of other ones) because I wanted to make this a story series, not just comment on everything that happens on the internet. I wanted to build my own universe, and this just wouldn't make sense. I removed a lot of the other comics that relate to the internet, but kept ones about relatable moments because that could easily and realistically take place in a universe.
Raw Pasta is also the first appearance of Mr Pop, and... I don't know why. I could say it was to show that Ben and Mr Pop, the famous worldwide pop singer, were friends, but I'm not that smart to plan something out like that.
This comic is a golden one from the earlier days. Yes, I plan to bring back Bens kids, but I can't just put them there, canonically Ben is my age (15), and in this comic he was saying IF he named kids, that's what they would be named. If I were to bring them back, it would have to be looking into the future. It also makes me look at what Brainrock Comics could've been, an episodic, comedic series. But of course, Ben wanted to get all SERIOUS and we can't HAVE that.
The first introduction of the Dark Wizard! He does change his look (no Hat, short sleeved shirt, smooth hair), as a transition into a more menacing and serious character as he faces more challenges. Yes, he could have stayed comedic relief, but I wanted to expand the wizarding section of my comic series. Harry Potter portrays wizards as good people with magic fighting bad people with magic, but I wanted to do another take on Wizardry.
What if Wizards were like Outlaws? Never Forgive, Never Forget, if you betray them, they will banish you. It gives an interesting culture to the wizards that sets themselves apart from typical wizards. I plan to properly expand and explain the wizarding culture in collection 2, because magic systems have loopholes, are complex and are flawed, and it isn't the main focus here after all. I want to at least make it make sense.
Ok, from here on out I'm going to be commentating and adding lore to the main stories that happen during Series 4-7, I just wanted to quickly cover the earlier stuff. Let's get into it.
As you could probably guess, this is indirectly taking a stab at Taylor Swift. Nobody should have over 6 variants of an album, let alone 34. It fits Mr Pops character, which is a mix between Justin Bieber and Mr Beast. It's the start of the MR POP storyline which is hardly a main story at all.
The Blood Monster startd as an inside joke while playing Gartic Phone. Somebody told me to do the same Prompt 4 times in a row, and I drew a red shadowy figure and ominously put "No." next to it. Before you know it, the joke was dragged, and it actually got turned into a character, since I decided to make comics again around the same time the Blood Monster was a joke. I was going to make a whole storyline about the Blood Monster, but I think it's better if she stays ominous.
BeB is also an inside joke betwen me and sam. He was making a YTP of my videos, when he decided to make "BeB" a character. Instantly got dragged to death, and it's become synonymous with me and my content. So of course, BeB has to be introduced to the comic series. Haven't done anything with him since his Origin Story but I plan to do more with him in Collection 2.
I'm not going to post the whole Headbandits comic since it's like 4 parts, but I love this and their introduction. Yes, it does go deeper than this later on, but setting up the Dark Wizard plotline later on, and Liams weird adventures with challenging the government system. My idea for the Headbandits originated 3 YEARS AGO, but instead of a Headbandit group, it was a Headbandit cult. I think the group fits better personally.
This is true in real life. Liam always used to wear a signature red headband to school, and in his own comic series when he was younger, it was his character. On his birthday party, he held a survivor style game called Last Man, and teams were divided with headbands. Although unlike real life, Liam doesn't care about the government system and definitely isn't radical enough to steal money from banks for change.
It's funny how "magic always comes at a price" applies directly to the comic Dark Arrival with the DARK WIZARDS own actions. I'm not going to spoil it yet, but I also find it quite funny how he swears he'll get revenge on his life, but backs down for something else other than his life in the final fight. He has this serious moment now, which kind of makes you compassionate for him, until he get's power hungry and loses sight of what made him mad in the first place.
Paul Justice, Judge James, and this skit idea all came from a YouTube video I posted back in 2025. It was a parody of the Phoenix Wright games, because I found it quite unrealistic how cases were settled when playing them myself. Long story short it blows up for some reason and many people took their spin on it (including this skit idea), so I had to bring them back.
I've always had an urge to expand on this idea, flesh out the Paul Justice and Judge James characters, and flesh out the government system too. I've had a fascination for fictional governments and civilizations, so this was the perfect opportunity to include it.
This idea was really funny to me, a whole painstakingly typed out letter getting sent to Paul Justice instead of the Mayor by sheer bad luck. Judge James calls this "Intercepting mail" later on, but for your information, it really just was awful luck with the mail. Might have something to do with reality bending???? You'll have to see!!!
ARE they in love? I imagine they are, but I don't want to say a definitive yes or no for now. If it was a relationship, it would be much more deep and meaningful than Orange and Purples relationship. No offense to them but they are really shallow. It would be a good contrast, and would also be good to show how relationships mean different things to different people, BUT I'm not saying for sure, because it encourages my 2 readers to make headcanons.
Canonically, everytime I say "THE INCIDENT", I'm referring to this. It symbolizes YouTube being taken away from me :( and also if I can't have YouTube none of my fictional characters can.
The Alternate Reality portal will be explained more next collection, but it's basically a portal the Dark Wizard casts to send people to alternate realities. He can't control who comes out of it, but he can control who goes in. Every universe has a different type of portal. I don't want to open this door too much because then the central universe means nothing really. I just want to crack it open a little bit, to start an IDunnoMaybe saga, do something with that character again.
Cookism has existed since 2020! This whole thing is an analogy of people not truly believing in what they believe, guided to a sense of false hope without really knowing what to do for it. But then again it's just a silly religion. This will be part of the ALTERNATE REALITY PORTAL and there will be a cookie kingdom, where this really subtle messaging will be included MORE!
Few things to note here. First of all, the MAYOR CONVENTION SIGN doesn't have a sun with a green hill and blue sky behind it, it has the Backdrop City flag behind it. Yes, every city is planned to have a flag. Second, the ties do mean something. The political systems in my universe are just dumbed down versions of the real ones, with green and purple being the political parties. Obviously, they will be named later on.
So what the hell does Blue mean? It means... a judge. In court, red ties are to be used everywhere, but outside of court, different people of the law system use different coloured ties to show where they are in the law system. Third, Azure hates being called an Alien, but figures it's common here so puts up with it. He's just trying to get housing, and he's just PUTTING UP with earths nonsense.
Remember how I said Mr Pop is a mix of Justin Bieber and Mr Beast? This is the Mr Beast part, he's hosting his own gameshow, which will be Mr Pops story in Season 2. Mr Pop is really a character to parody celebrities and famous people that fit him. Like Beast Games, his gameshow won't exactly be smooth in the production and making.
I'll admit, this ending was darker than what I was going for. But it started off bigger than what I was expecting, so I had to finish it with a bang, right? Oh also, Orange isn't actually dead, at all. That will be explained in Collection 2. Dark Arrival is the biggest comic I've made, so I've just put the ending here. You can check it out in the comics section.
Anyways, that's a wrap on my commentary. The main problem I have with the series so far is that what YOU are seeing is the comics, but what I'M seeing is very different. I've connected every character, comic, and piece of lore in one web, which is constantly expanding. So I have worldbuilding stored and you can't see it at the moment. That's why I want to expand the sections about the comic series. I hope collection 2 is a great collection, and I hope you'll enjoy reading it. Oh also, if you couldn't tell, this is my new obsession, YouTube, when I can do it again, will be completely different.
